SMALL GROUPS

If you’re interested in pursuing authentic community and growing spiritually, small groups are for you!

Life is easier together, and all you have to do is show up and be real.

Listed below are our small groups for FALL 2022, with the leaders, times, and topics. We have a place for you!

“What is the Bible”

HOSTED BY: Luke & Kayt Shumaker

TIMES: Every other Thursday beginning on 11/10 at 5:30 P.M. Reach out to For Johnstown on Facebook or Instagram for location address.

A little about Luke & Kayt: “We grew up locally in Johnstown going to a United Methodist church. Even though we don’t have any formal Bible training we’ve studied the Bible through church and small groups for most of our lives. Our faith looks drastically different now than it did when we were going to mainline churches. We hope that other people will also join us in our curiosity and openness as we dive into topics that are countercultural to a lot of the fundamentalist teachings with which we were brought up.”

“Women in the Bible”

HOSTED BY: Gina McKlveen

TIMES: Every other week beginning on Sunday, 11/13 at 11:30 A.M. Reach out to For Johnstown on Facebook or Instagram for location.

A little about Gina: “I was born and raised in Stahlstown PA as the youngest of my family. I grew up in a non-denominational church, surrounded by loved ones who inspired me to have a simple, but deep faith in Jesus. I was baptized into the Body of Christ when I was 18-years-old and went forward to pursue my Bachelor of Arts degrees in English and Studio Art at Saint Vincent College. I moved to Washington, DC in 2018 and graduated from GW Law in 2021 before recently returning to Pennsylvania. I love spending time outdoors with my Golden Retriever, Toro. I enjoy traveling and have visited 12 countries so far. I am passionate about serving both my local community and the global community at large. I began attending FOR Johnstown in August of 2022 and am excited to witness the blessings of God that await this church.”

Traditional Bible Study – Chapter Review & Discussion

HOSTED BY: Ken Gresh

TIMES: Every other week beginning on Sunday, 11/13 at 6:00 P.M. Reach out to For Johnstown on Facebook or Instagram for location.

A little about Ken: “During the last 2 years I have been reestablishing a home in the Moxham area.  My retirement has almost completely ended my previously busy life.  I’ve managed being a former busy pastor, lifeguard, teacher, community bus driver, camp cook & more. But now I am ready to begin a study with some others wanting to refresh their knowledge of the Bible.  If anyone knows of a need for a real bearded Santa in December, let me know…”

“New to Christianity”

We were not meant to do life alone. We were made FOR community.
