You in Flood City

Give them a follow!
Hey friends! Say hello to Tasha Adams, the heart behind You in Flood City! Here’s what she shared with us:
In 2015, I began You in Flood City as a side project to share the great events & daily specials on our Facebook page in an effort to encourage locals to better enjoy and utilize all of the incredible resources, recreation, small businesses, and happenings we have here. There is so much to do here!
We soon started planning our own events, beginning with the 2015 Johnstown Zombie Crawl, where (to our surprise) 70 people showed up – dressed in full zombie costume – to experience the downtown nightlife together; traveling by foot from bar to bar. In 2016, we added the Mardi Crawl!
Now, we welcome around 300 participants to our annual crawls to experience the fantastic themed drinks, food, and music each establishment has to offer.
In 2019, we were so excited to officially acquire our nonprofit status! Beyond our crawls, we focus on providing unique and personal experiences to visitors and locals. Our volunteer Board is so creative and has endless ideas for events that we’d like to organize in the future. When we get together for meetings, it is always refreshing and inspiring to just throw our ideas out there and brainstorm how we can make them happen and the good that will come out of them for our City. It’s really an empowering crew.
Our most recent endeavor has been working to bring a chapter of Cycling Without Age (CWA) to Johnstown. CWA is a volunteer-run program that offers bicycle rides to local seniors and people with disabilities. Our City, festivals, and many trails provide the most perfect backdrop for this program & we look forward to raising enough money to purchase our first rickshaw bike.
I feel so excited about the direction Johnstown is heading and I love learning about & supporting the many, amazing community members who are working behind the scenes to make it happen. There is so much to fall in love with here & so much to feel proud about as a Johnstown local.
In my spare time, I am learning the ins and outs of being a brand new mom to our son Wells and a fur mom to our adventure dog mini-goldendoodle Lady. I enjoy exploring our areas food and brew scene with my family and friends, kayaking the Stonycreek, playing summer volleyball at Roxbury Park, and, of course, planning and partnering to bring new things to or shining a light on already great things in Flood City.
